AT PEACEFULHOME HEALTH CARE

Community Alternatives Program for Disabled Adults

At Peaceful Home Healthcare, we are dedicated to supporting families through North Carolina’s Medicaid Home & Community-Based Waiver Programs, specifically CAP-DA and CAP-C. These programs were created to help individuals with significant medical, physical, or developmental needs remain safely in the comfort of their homes rather than being placed in a nursing facility or long-term care institution. By receiving care at home, clients can experience a higher quality of life, maintain independence, stay connected to their families, and continue living in an environment where they feel most secure.

The waiver program provides a cost-effective alternative to institutionalization for a Medicaid beneficiary who is medically fragile and at risk for institutionalization if home- and community-bases services approved in the CAP/DA waiver were not available. CAP/DA services allow the beneficiary to remain in or return to a home- and community-based setting by supplementing, rather than replacing, the formal and informal services and supports already available to an approved Medicaid beneficiary.

Why we offer CAP-DA

The Community Alternatives Program for Disabled Adults (CAP-DA) is essential for adults who require a high level of daily support but prefer to remain at home rather than in a nursing facility. Many aging adults and individuals living with disabilities want to maintain their independence, stay connected to their families, and continue living in a familiar environment and CAP-DA makes that possible.

Families also benefit greatly. CAP-DA reduces the emotional and financial burden of long-term institutional placement by offering Medicaid-covered services tailored to the individual’s needs. It promotes family involvement, supports caregivers, and allows adults to maintain control over their daily routines and quality of life.
